Why Psychotherapy?

People often seek psychotherapy when they are experiencing emotional distress or discomfort that interferes with their ability to function as they would like. This distress may be related to a transitional period, such as a move or change of occupation, relationship challenges, conflict within family, or financial difficulties. If a person has a history of therapy or chronic challenges, they may choose to seek ongoing or even preventative support in therapy.  Regardless of the reason for seeking treatment, a psychotherapist can provide an objective, supportive, and non-judgemental space to process and overcome challenges.

In psychotherapy, the therapist and client work collaboratively to identify triggers for negative feelings and source distressing patterns in functioning, with the overall goal of developing better understanding of self, as well as coping skills, to best handle stressful situations. Clinicians may utilize various treatment modalities depending on the goals of the client, including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Relational Psychotherapy, and Systems interventions. There is not a one size fits all approach to psychotherapy and treatment, and our diverse team members have varying training backgrounds, allowing for an unique approach for every client that enters into our care.
